The Mid-Del Jazz Orchestra (MDJO) formed in 2011 as the Del City Community Jazz Orchestra.  Known then as the DCCJO, it was initially comprised of alumni from Del City High School located in Del City, Oklahoma.  These alumni performers shared common musical interests because of their heritage and teaching through their participation in several award-winning Del City High School Jazz Bands.

Members renewed friendships with each other and began reconnecting with the greater Oklahoma City music community and with various alumni across the United States who had continued on as professional musicians.
